Warning Signs and Symptons
Central chest pain, breathlessness, possible pain down the left arm or jaw, a rapid or irregular pulse, nausea and vomiting. If any of these signs are prominent then the helper should assume it is a heart attack or something very similar. How to help the victim If the person is unconscious and they are still breathing, then they should be put into the recovery position and emergency services should be called. If the person is not breathing they are likely to have gone into cardiac arrest (cardiac arrest is a condition where the heart has stopped beating effectively) where CPR should be given to the victim, and Emergency services should be called immediately in this situation. If the person is still conscious they should be sat down, emergency services should be called, and constant reassurance should be given to the person. |
